Cultivated in closed cups with serrated leaves, after a transition period in the aquarium, they develop long, serrated, needle-like leaves.
In good light conditions, it turns a beautiful copper color with a unique appearance that contrasts with other plants.
Proserpinaca palustris varies by place of origin. The Tropica variety is found in Isla de la Juventud near Cuba. In the United States, this plant is often referred to as "mermaid grass."
