Hygrophila pinnatifida is native to India. It has brown, patched leaves on the surface and a distinctive burgundy underside. It will produce horizontal side shoots, and the top shoots should be pinched off to maintain a compact and attractive growth. Horizontal side shoots attach easily to wood and rocks. Moderately growing, stems 15-40 cm high and 10-20 cm wide, the color is attractive when grown in small plain clusters. As the plants grow at a slow to moderate rate, strong light ensures compact growth.
