Tissue-cultured aquarium plants from closed cups.
Limnobium laevigatum from South America is a decorative floating plant especially suitable for open aquariums.
1-5 cm tall, leaves 5-15 cm wide.
It's also great in traditional aquariums, as the elongated decorative roots protect eels and other surface fish that prefer floating plant roots. If the water has enough nutrients and the light intensity is good, new leaves will appear above the water surface. It may be necessary to remove some to avoid the plants below it still getting some light.
It grows more slowly when nutrient levels in the water decrease, making it an important indicator of available nutrients.
